Some homeowners get a little nervous when they entertain the idea of building a custom home. To them, the term custom is synonymous with higher cost. While there is some validity to that concern, there’s really a bigger question that homeowners should consider: What’s more important, cost or value?

When you’re building a new home in the Poconos, a lot of your attention will be focused on the house itself. That’s good, because there are a lot of details that demand your attention. But the homebuilding process can also add a little stress to your interpersonal relationships. Some people find that building a home can actually cause a few stress fractures in their relationships.

If there’s one room in the home that seems to have captured the imagination of most homeowners, it’s probably the kitchen.  Sites such as houzz.com and bhg.com are loaded with ideas for spectacular kitchens. We’ve talked about kitchen trends several times ourselves. You could even make the case that the kitchen rules the roost when it comes to spaces of significance in your new home.

Just a few weeks ago, Punxsutawny Phil promised that spring wouldn’t be far off. And while Phil has been known to miss his prognostications on occasion, spring will hit the Poconos soon. That, of course, means shifting gears from snow fun to a whole different kind of outdoor activity.

We’ve all heard the old adage that if a deal seems too good to be true, it probably is. That little nugget of wisdom also applies to building a new home. It’s why homebuyers should heed the warning: “Caveat Emptor” (Let the buyer beware!).
