When you build a custom home you get to customize plans and features, so that your new home matches your sense of style and your family’s lifestyle. Frankly, that’s one of the things we love about building custom homes for our clients. They can get exactly what they want. We do caution our clients, however, about balancing their short-term needs and their long-term needs when they customize. Here are a couple of areas where that can be important. 

A lot of people love the Poconos region because of all the great outdoor activities. Not only can they take advantage of hiking, biking, water sports, and flat-out great scenery, but it’s also a great place to picnic or entertain friends and family on the deck. But as September slips by, many area residents start thinking about taking the entertainment indoors. 

One major reason people decide to build custom homes is that they have the ability to create a home that uniquely fits their needs and lifestyle. They may start with an existing floor plan that provides a good baseline for what they want (approximate square footage, style of home, number of rooms, number of levels, and general layout), and then they make modifications to that plan. 

When you buy an existing home you pay a certain amount and you get a specific amount of square feet. You really can’t change what you get by paying more or offering less. Sure, you may pay a higher price for a home located in a particular area, but beyond that, it’s a pretty simple transaction.

If you took any trips by air this summer, you probably heard the familiar “ding” on the plane’s intercom, followed by the announcement: “The Captain has turned off the fasten seat belt sign. You are now free to move about the cabin.” Given the cramped quarters most of us experience when flying, the freedom to move about is more than welcome.
