Trees right up against your home can keep your home cooler in the summer, but they can also rob you of natural light—and in cases of high winds, can damage your home if they topple.
You’ve heard of not being able to see the forest for the trees? That can actually happen in a densely wooded area. If the trees are too close to your house and too dense, you could end up with an extremely limited view.
That doesn’t mean you have to clear-cut your lot, but you might want to establish a bit of a buffer between your home and the surrounding trees. Your lifestyle also plays a factor. If you enjoy entertaining outside, you may want to give some thought to a patio area—or even create an outdoor kitchen and dining area where you can cook or enjoy a drink with friends and family.
