Best-Places-to-Camp-in-the-Poconos.jpgYou’re probably already aware that the Poconos Mountains is a great place to live. There are great communities in the region and you can take your pick from a wide variety of fantastic floor plans when building a new home here. In spite of all of that, however, there are times when you may just want to get out of the house and get back to nature. Here’s a look at a few of the best places to camp in the Poconos.

Keen Lake Camping and Cottage Resort is a privately owned 90-acre property with a spring fed mountain lake that’s located just off Route 6 in Waymart, PA. You can choose between RV camping, pop-up camping, tent camping, and even seasonal cottage rentals. The camp offers a variety of activities programs. If you’re an angler, you’ll enjoy excellent fishing for large mouth bass, perch, walleye, crappies and more. Click here for more information or to make a reservation.

Otter Lake Camp Resort is a year-round camping destination situated on 300 wooded acres in the Pocono Mountains. The campground surrounds a glistening 60-acre lake that is perfect for boating (no gas motors) and swimming. The lake also features challenging bass fishing—and there is no fishing license required. Amenities include deluxe heated restrooms with separate showers and dressing areas, a convenience store, two Laundromats, firewood and LP gas. You can hike, rent boats (including canoes and paddle boats). And if lake swimming isn’t your thing, you can enjoy the lakeside pool or head for the heated indoor pool.  Click here for photos and additional information.

Mountain Vista Campground is located in East Stroudsburg, PA and offers great campsites for RV camping, tent camping, or cabin camping. In addition to offering free Wi-Fi (just in case you don't want to totally unplug), you'll also find spotless bathhouses, a Laundromat, picnic tables for meals, and even a spacious dog run for your four-legged family members. You can fish, swim, or play basketball, tennis or volleyball. There are also fire truck rides and even a mining sluice where kids can find hidden gems and even fossils.  Click here for rates, reservations, and to see more.

Mountain Springs Lake Resort is an ideal spot if you’re looking for a cabin/cottage getaway that’s a bit more upscale. You’ll have 37 unique Pocono cabins from which to choose. Charming cottages and winding country roads grace the 325 woodland acres and pristine shores of the mile-long spring-fed lake. There’s a lot to do at the resort. You can take a nap on the porch of your cottage or drift on the lake in your complimentary rowboat. You can also rent a paddleboat or a canoe. Walk the nature trail, watch birds, hike or bike, fish, or swim. If you want more active outlets, you can play basketball, volleyball, badminton or horseshoes. It’s also an ideal spot for a fantastic family reunion. Click here for more information about accommodations or to make a reservation.

Happy Camping!
