5 Reasons Why Building in the Poconos May Make Sense for You.

5-reasons-why-building-in-the-Poconos-may-make-sense-for-youIf you’re considering building a new custom home in the New Jersey or Pennsylvania area you’ve got a lot of choices. Is there are good reason to choose the Poconos Mountain area for your new home? Actually, we can think of several that might make sense for you!

1. There’s Less of the “Good Stuff”

The American comedic legend, Will Rogers once slyly remarked: “Buy land. They ain't making any more of the stuff.” Will was right. There’s a limited amount of buildable property for sale. And as time goes by, the more desirable properties are becoming harder to find—in addition to becoming more expensive. The Poconos region remains incredibly desirable because of its natural beauty and serenity.

2. Close, but a Million Miles Away

One of the great benefits of living in the Poconos is that it’s easy to access major metropolitan areas. Newark, NJ is only 85 miles away. From there it’s only a short hop to New York City. Even Philadelphia is only a bit more than 100 miles away. And yet, when you live in the Poconos, you’ll feel like you’re a million miles away from the stress and clamor of the city.

3. Less Taxing

It’s not just the more relaxed lifestyle that’s less taxing. According to a USA Today report, in 2012 New Yorkers paid 12.8 percent of their income in taxes. New Jersey residents paid 12.4 percent, and people living in Connecticut paid 12.3 percent of their income on taxes. Pennsylvania residents, in contrast paid 10.2 percent.

4. More Bang for Your Buck

If you want more for your money, you may want to look at Pennsylvania. According to tulia.com the average listing price for a home in New York (for the week ending May 2015) was $816,103. For Connecticut, it was $600,108, and for New Jersey the figure was $445,547. Pennsylvania came in at $246,718. Granted, those are average asking prices—but it’s still a pretty big spread.

5. There’s So Much To Do

Whether you like hiking, biking, kayaking, skiing, visiting antiques stores, golf, watching wildlife, gambling, or visiting historic sites, there’s plenty to do in the Poconos. Even if you just like sitting on your porch or patio and enjoying the scenery, it doesn’t get much better. Here’s a helpful post about things to do around here just in the summer months!

On top of that, there are some great homes just waiting to be built. Take a look at some of the fantastic floor plans that will let you enjoy life to the fullest in the Poconos Mountains.
