What_to_do_with_grandchildren_under_10_.jpgIf you’re thinking about building a home for your retirement in the Poconos, the house itself is just one consideration. You may be wondering, what will we do when the grandchildren visit? In a word (or two): water parks!

You know you love to have the grandkids around—and you want them to look forward to visiting you often. But if you have grandchildren under the age of 10, will there be enough for them to do? You don’t want them to get bored. So where can you take them?

The good news is, there’s plenty for younger children to do in the Poconos region, and kids of all ages love water parks – an attraction the Poconos offers in abundance! You and the grandchildren can take your pick from the following options:

Kalahari Resorts and Conventions

The Kalahari water park is the latest and greatest of Kalahari's family of authentically African-themed water parks. This 100,000 square-foot indoor water park features a retractable roof and stand-up surfing or body boarding on the FlowRider®. That means you can enjoy fun in the water regardless of what the weather is like outside.

Split Rock Resort

Enjoy 54,000 square feet of water fun at the Split Rock Resort in Lake Harmony! You and the grandkids can stay overnight or just visit for the day. Enjoy tube and raft slides, a wave pool and the state's first indoor surf simulator, the Komodo Dragon. At the end of the day, Grandma and Grandpa can soothe their sore muscles in the Lava Springs hot tubs.

Great Wolf Lodge

If you have very young grandchildren, the spray features in the toddler area will make them giggle. Older children will enjoy the white-knuckle extreme tube rides. There’s something for everyone! But the fun extends beyond rides and slides. Enjoy games galore and unique activities outside the water park, including the Scooops Kid Spa, the MagiQuest live-action adventure game and the Northern Lights Arcade. You and the grandkids can even try Slideboarding! (You have to see it to believe it!) Click here for more information about Great Wolf Lodge

Camelbeach Mountain Waterpark

Whether you and the grandchildren like waterslides that make you gasp or prefer lounging poolside on a hot summer day, you’ll find it at Camelbeach—Pennsylvania’s biggest water park! Choose from 37 rides, slides and attractions, including dousing buckets, spraying water, hundreds of palm trees, cobblestone walkways, water rides and beach sand. You can stay for the day or for a weekend getaway. Click here for more information

With all of this wet and wild activity within easy reach, you’ll never have to worry about the grandchildren being bored. They’ll have a great time—and they’ll want to come visit again and again!
