There’s More to Your Poconos Master Bedroom Than a Bed

Theres-more-to-your-Poconos-Master-Bedroom-than-just-a-bed.jpgSometimes it seems as if the names for the rooms in our homes are a little out of touch. We don’t really live in our living rooms. Nobody powders anything in a powder room. And for most of us, the bedroom is much more than a place to put a bed.

That’s particularly true of the Master Bedroom. Yes, it’s a place that we want to sleep in comfort, undisturbed by noise and activity, but it’s much more. For many of us it’s a place where we can retreat to read, to think, to relax and maybe even watch a good movie from the comfort of bed.

If you’re considering building a custom home in the Poconos, you have the option of making your Master Bedroom into exactly the kind of retreat you want it to be. Here are a few ways you could make that happen.

Go a Little Bigger

You don’t have to have a cavernous bedroom in order to enjoy it more. But adding a few extra feet could enable you to add in a dedicated sitting area where you can read, listen to music, or just enjoy the great Poconos views.

Super-size Your Closets

In all the years we’ve been building homes in the Poconos area, we’ve never heard anyone complain about having too much closet space. Designing and building oversized closets in your Master Bedroom can make a huge difference in the way the room feels—and how you feel when it’s time to get dressed everyday!

Hide Your TV

While a lot of people enjoy watching a movie or catching up on the news from bed, there’s no denying that a television screen tends to dominate a room. You can build in space to store your TV behind cabinet doors or recess it into the wall so that it’s not the focal point of the room. You can even get motorized screens that cover your set and slide up with the touch of a button when you want to watch.

Let the Light In

Maybe you want to enjoy the spectacular views around you and let in more natural light during daylight hours. With a custom home, you can adjust the placement and even the size of windows.

Any of those options can turn a boring bedroom into a relaxing retreat. Talk to your builder about exactly what it is you want and come up with the best way to make that happen. One hint, however: It will be a lot easier—and inexpensive—if you plan for this early rather than waiting until construction has begun.

Of course, where you place your bedroom is a big consideration as well. Most of the floor plans we offer feature main level Master Bedroom living, but you also have the option of locating your Master Bedroom on the second level.
