Spring-ahead-why-now-is-a-great-time-to-start-looking-for-your-new-Poconos-homeSpringtime is when a lot of people are looking to build a new home. If you glance out your window, you may think it’s a little early to start talking about spring, but when it comes to building a custom home in the Poconos, now is a great time to get your hand in and start the process.

New homes—especially custom homes—aren’t built overnight. And to be honest, a lot of the hard work on your end takes place long before the first backhoe starts digging the foundation.

The good news about building a custom home is that you get to make all the decisions about how your home will come together. The bad news is that you get to make all those decisions. The fact is that it takes time to decide exactly what you want in a custom home. Don’t rush the process. You’ll probably be in your home for a long time, so make sure it meets your expectations.

How you define your expectations is up to you. Some people like to start by gathering ideas. One way to do that is to look at examples of the kind of home you think you might like. That’s why we put photos of our custom homes on our website. They give prospective homeowners a sense of what a custom home looks like inside and out. These images can serve as a springboard for your own ideas.

Other people prefer to take a look at floor plans first to get an idea of how their future home will be laid out. What are the options for configuring the rooms? How much space will they have? How are “common” and “private” spaces configured? Once again, a floor plan doesn’t lock you into a specific design, but it gives you a framework from which to start. You can talk to your builder about features you like—and talk about what you want to change.

Still others begin the custom home process by searching out their location first. They want to make sure that where they build their home meets their criteria (whether it’s seclusion, convenience, or views).

The point in all of this is to take your time and take control of the process. If you’ve been considering building a custom home in the Poconos, now is a great time to spring ahead. But spring ahead slowly and at your own pace. And if you have questions about the process—we’re here to help!
