Pennsylvania Water Parks: They’re Not Just For Summer Anymore!

Posted by John Holahan on Oct 12, 2015 7:00:00 AM

It seems there’s a bit of a misconception about winter activities in the Poconos. Sure, there area is known for it’s great winter skiing, but not everybody thinks that strapping a couple of thin boards to their feet and flying down a snow-covered hill in freezing weather is the ideal winter recreational activity.

If you’re one of the people who just says no to the snow, does that mean you’re out of luck as far as having fun in our Pennsylvania winters?

Strap on your goggles, and slip into your swimming suit because here’s some good news for non-skiiers in Pennsylvania. Water parks are not just for summer enjoyment anymore! People living in the Poconos region can take advantage of indoor water park fun all winter long.

The Poconos region offers three great all-season water parks from which to choose:

  • Great Wolf Lodge in Scotrun, PA features a massive 84-degree indoor water park with thousands of square feet of family fun, from jaw-dropping slides for the thrill seekers to zero-depth entry playgrounds for the little ones. Splash the day away while creating unforgettable memories together. And the rest of the resort offers a wide variety of unique attractions: including MagiQuest®, a live-action adventure game or even an ice-cream-themed manicure in Scooops® Kid Spa. The Northern Lights™ Arcade is packed with a variety of games for every skill level. Click here for more information about all there is to do at Great Wolf Lodge.
  • Kalahari Resorts and Conventions in Pocono Manor, PA is the newest addition to the Kalahari family of authentically African themed water park resorts and convention centers. It includes a 100,000 sq. ft. Indoor water park that features stand-up surfing or body boarding, the twists and turns of the Anaconda and Swahili Swirl waterslides, relaxing lazy river and indoor/outdoor family hot tub, and tons of activities for little ones as well! Click here to discover more of what Kalahari in the Pocono Mountains has to offer.
  • Camelbeach Mountain Water Park in Tannersville, PA is home to the Aquatopia Indoor Water Park that’s perfect for the entire family, with slides and attractions of all thrill levels, including body slides for the very courageous and tube rides for relaxation. Float lazily on the Lost River or ride the endless waves on our indoor surfing experience, Bombora FlowRider. Little ones can splash to their heart’s content in the zero depth entry pool. There are also private cabanas, a swim up bar, and personal food and beverage service. All of this happens in a comfortable 84-degree indoor climate! Just because winter is on its way doesn’t mean you have to give up your water park fun. No skiing? No problem. The Poconos are still the place for year-round family fun!
