WFMZ-TV reports that area Congressman Matt Cartwright, an appropriations committee member, is working to secure funds that would add a train line from the Poconos into New York. Anything that can be done to decrease the number of cars on the road between the Poconos and the New York metro area will help. That’s one reason the congressman is working with Poconos area businesses to help move the project along.
In addition to helping relieve the amount of traffic on the roads, the rail line would give Monroe Country residents another option. For many of them, using the time to read, talk, and even sleep on the way to work is much less stressful (and even productive) than dodging traffic and trying to find a place to park.
With the addition of a commuter line, there will be one more reason why residents from large metro areas will find the Poconos region increasingly attractive. Here’s a look at some of the reasons people living in New York and Pennsylvania are already heading to the Poconos.
And while the Poconos region has a lot of rustic appeal, great views, interesting history, and an abundance of area activities, it also offers something every resident wants: Great housing. Click here for a photographic overview of some of the great homes that exist in the Poconos. You’ll notice that they look a little different (dare we even say, “more intriguing”?) than your typical urban or suburban housing opportunities.
