community-of-interest-thornhurst-township-1If you’ve always dreamed of living in the serene peace and quiet of a rural small town, you may want to take a look at Thornhurst Township. As of 2014, the charming hamlet of Thornhurst Township had a population of 1,045 people. And while the population has grown approximately 23 percent since 2000, it’s unlikely that you’ll find the town overrun by city-dwellers looking to escape the crush of urban living anytime soon.

Thronhurst Township is a peaceful place. It’s not only that the surrounding area is serene and rural, but the town is also ranked #6 in America’s Best Cities for Crime (meaning it has an extremely low crime rate).

It’s a town that cares for its students as well. Thornhurst Township public schools spend $12,834 per student—compared to the U.S.  average school expenditure of $12,435 per student. And you don’t have to worry about crowded classrooms because there are approximately 16 students per teacher in Thornhurst Township.

School children, of course, are not the only ones living here. The population is generously spread out in age with approximately 23 percent of the population under the age of 18; some 62 percent are between the ages of 18 to 64;  and about 14 percent are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 42.5 years.

Light traffic is also a benefit to life in Thornhurst Township, and the average time of commuting for residents is 20 minutes. There are unconfirmed reports that the locals have never even heard of “road rage.”
